DJ El Malo

DJ El Malo

Stefano Amato, alias DJ El Malo, was born in Zurich in 1975. Already as a child, besides soccer, he developed a great passion for music. After an instructive trip across Cuba, the native Italian was sure: his future DJ career would consist of Salsa beats.

From his former experiences as a House-DJ he got the indispensable beat feeling, from his HipHop and R&B trips he got the great mixing technique and from his passion to the Latin way of life he got the needed faith in the music. When DJ'ing, he provides an unrivalled mix of Fania classics.

In less than five years he became one of the most known and best Salsa DJ's, invited to important international Salsa Congresses all over the world. Moreover, he was honored several times for his work in the World of Latin Music - like in 2005, at the West Coast Salsa Congress in Los Angeles. He has also launched two great Salsa Compilations with the label "Latin Touch".

DJ Julian "The Duke"

DJ Julian the Duke

Julian is originally from Colombia and has been part of the salsa scene throughout all his life. He has been a DJ for the last 20 years playing at various congresses and venues around the world.

He is one of the first Salsa Dj’s who started Salsa in the U.K.

Julian received the award winner of the UK Salsa Congress in 2002, LA Congress 2003 and his latest award was the Best Salsa DJ of 2004 in the U.K.

During his visit to Hong Kong where he performed in a Salsa Congress in 2008 he was awarded the certificate of participation for his outstanding performance.

Julian believes Salsa is a way to bring happiness and to unite people from all backgrounds throughout music.

DJ Sezar

DJ Sezar

DJ Sezar plays at weekly socials in Oslo (Norway) and has also been a visiting DJ at countless foreign Salsa socials. He has also DJed at Salsa congresses in Scandinavia and Turkey.

Having started at Techno, Pop, Hits and R&B Clubs, Sezar now totally switched to Salsa and Latin rhythms, which, over the last 7 years, have became his lifestyle and passion.

He has travelled to about 30 Salsa congresses, lived periodically in New York and taken classes worldwide. Over time, he's familiarized himself with the Salsa scene, different styles and tastes. He learnt to dance Bachata and Cha-cha-chá, and listened to Romantic Salsa and Mambo... old school and new stuff. With travelling, he also collected music from different CD stands, Latin Music stores and from people. His passion and love is Old School Mambo, the Fania All Stars and tunes influenced by 60's and 70's Salsa.

He does his own mixes with some songs that feel like they should last 30 seconds longer..., or less. He is truly a dancer at heart and says that the most confusing thing about being a DJ and a dancer at the same time is the frustration of not being able to dance to the great songs. As a dancer himself he delivers to the dancers really nice sets of diverse music that keeps you going.

DJ Saltho

DJ Saltho

Salsa is an area in which DJ Saltho has been involved for many years. Alongside the dance, he also became interested in the music from the start. Whether it's Cuban Son or Timba, Salsa from New York, Puerto Rico, Columbia, or Salsa from somewhere else in the world: The rhythmical basis for this music, the clave, is something that he just cannot resist. This affection manifests itself in his DJ activities. His main focus lies with Son and Salsa.

He always finds it exciting to work with the various styles and epochs, to examine their roots, their similarities and differences. He hopes that his work contributes something to the preservation and proliferation of Salsa; the music, which constantly inspires such fascinating and unrelenting movement and dance.

Sławek 'Mala Suerte' Leszczyński

DJ Mala Suerte

Sławek was introduced to salsa in late 2002 and that's when he started to collect songs that he felt were the most enjoyable for salsa dancers. Over the years his collection grew but he only used it for personal purposes. It all changed in 2006 when he was asked to DJ at a new salsa party and reluctantly agreed. From that moment he started to spend more and more time searching for new music and sifting through his collection for the best songs. This time-consuming task was partially eased by his exceptional memory for catchy tunes and for the names of salsa artists.

At the beginning of his career as a DJ, Sławek spinned in small clubs with poor DJ equipment and bad audio systems. Undaunted by his initial difficulties, he adopted the humorous nickname Mala Suerte (Spanish for "bad luck").

Guided by his musical taste as a dancer, he tries to deliver tunes that are highly danceable but not too familiar. He specialises in heavy Puerto Rican and New York salsa, especially from the golden age of salsa music in the 1960s and 1970s, but he doesn't ignore salsa bands that have emerged over the last couple of years.

His taste in salsa music, as well as his knowledge, have evolved over time. Initially collecting albums of well-known salsa artists such as Ray Barretto, Willie Rosario, Tito Puente, Ismael Rivera, Bobby Valentin, Cheo Feliciano, he then broadened his horizons to less-known artists, such as Impacto Crea, Johnny Zamot, Chivirico Davila, Federico and Alfredo Linares. Today, Slawek own albums of hundreds of bands known only to a handful of salsa vieja collectors in the world.

You will definitely enjoy the nostalgic guajiras, rhythmic guaguancos and fast-paced, energetic, percussion heavy descargas he carefully selected.
